Welcome to South Creek Foxhounds!

South Creek Foxhounds is Florida’s oldest fox hunting club, officially founded in 1965. South Creek Foxhounds is located in west central Florida (Tampa) Established in 1965 by the late Mr. Robert Thomas of Two Rivers Ranch. The hunt was recognized by the MFHA in 1972. Originally known as Two Rivers Hunt, the hunt moved from the Thomas Ranch over 10 years ago, and now has numerous fixtures in six counties.

South Creek Foxhounds enjoys the chase from September through February of red and gray fox, bob cat, and the ever illusive, speedy coyote. We ride through pasture land, palmetto bushes, pine and oak forests, and cypress swamps. Our fences are primarily solid, inviting coops. Our pack consists of cross bred fox hounds which are hunted by Huntsmen Sarah Fox Sears.

Welcome South Creek Members and Friends!

During the South Creek Foxhounds 2023-2024 season, we will step headlong into ravines, creeks, palmetto patches, negotiate the occasional coop and soar over plentiful logs on hunt fixtures from Lake Panasoffkee to Myakka City.

Foxhunting with South Creek Foxhounds is an unparalleled opportunity to ride behind our energetic and dedicated young huntswoman, Ms. Sarah Fox Sears and her very capable staff. Sarah has hunted our hounds since 2006 and professionally since 2020. However, Sarah has been a part of hunting the pack since the age of three, following behind her whipper-in mother, Lesley Fox.

Our Tampa based hunt, from its conception at the Two Rivers Ranch until arriving at the Covington Road Kennels, has entertained many enthusiasts, both those who ride to hounds and those who participate primarily for socializing. Over the past five years, the size of our mounted field has decreased due to the pandemic and member relocations, but South Creek Foxhounds still flourishes due to a dedicated core of old and new members.

An effort to re-establish our pony club is currently underway. If you know of any Juniors, who would benefit from joining, please put them in touch with Jan McDonald. Our memberships will hopefully grow through introducing these enthusiastic juniors to the joys of fox hunting.

“Foxhunting embraces a complex four-way relationship among different living creatures- ourselves, our horses, our hounds and the coyotes we chase.” It is a unique adventure for all. Skill levels vary from those who are ready to follow the field wherever it may lead to those who want to walk/trot and see the chase from a distance.

This year when you hunt, no matter which field you are in, observe and appreciate the relationship between huntsman and hound. Don’t hesitate to relay your fun adventures in the field with other riding friends. Invite them out, ride with them in whatever field they will be safe.
